Exciting job opportunities

Finnmark have lots of exciting job opportunities to offer whether you have just finished studying or have been in your job for some time. Fishery end reindeer herding are the primary industries in the county, everybody knows that, but you do not need to be a fisherman or a reindeer herder to be employed in these industries. Both industries generate several links of employment, both in the private and public sector. Finnmark is rich on natural recourses – both in the sea and on land. Large oil and gas fields outside the coast are in the starting process of being developed. Tourism is another growing industry in Finnmark.

Many people have had their first years of work experience in Finnmark after finishing their studies. This provides exciting opportunities for you after ending your studies – here you may get a job that is both more demanding and more educative in the beginning than anywhere else in the country. The explanation is quite simple – we are so few people here, that you must service a broader spectre in your field than what is common in more population dense regions. Work experience from Finnmark is also very sought-after if you ever wish to leave the county again – clever employers knows just that we have a wider professional background after a few years here than what is normal elsewhere.

In Finnmark the government is even paying for parts of your student’s loan.

Art and culture have become a growth industry for the county over the past few years, and we have received good feedback from central authorities on our investment on culture as in industry.

In addition there are low barriers between occupational fields, groups and social class. That makes it easier to get an overview of how a society functions. Things are lucid and clear.

With Finnmark as your staring point, chances are good for an opportunity to work internationally. Both the private and the public sector have a lot of international cooperation, especially with Northwest Russia.

In short – you work close to the decision makers and you work internationally. That gives a good perspective. And should you need a break from a busy day at work there is a short way to great nature and fantastic opportunities for recuperation…

Here you may find an overview of available positions in the county (NAV).
